Organization Spotlight: The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati

Posted by Jenna Ahern on

Today we want to share some information about an organization we are proud to support at Time Timer: The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati.

The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati has been around for over 100 years. For those many years they have been educating and entertaining audiences and students all over the city of Cincinnati, Ohio (and now the country thanks to virtual options!).

The History of The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati

The beginning of the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati started back in 1919 with Helen Schuster-Martin in the Schuster Martin School of Drama. Helen was a member of the Junior League of Cincinnati and launched The Junior League Players to share her passion and expertise of live theatre as entertainment for children. Helen directed their first production in the early 1920s. From the original idea of The Junior League Players, The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati launched as an independent nonprofit organization in 1947. The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati and the Junior League of Cincinnati have continued to maintain a close partnership with each other over the past 100 years.

Mission Statement

The mission of The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati is,

“To educate, entertain and engage audiences of all ages through professional theatrical productions and arts education programming.”

The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati on Tour

The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati offers many different programs within their organization. The program Time Timer works to support is The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati on Tour.

The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati on Tour (TCT on Tour) brings an opportunity for children from diverse backgrounds to not only experience professional theatre, but to explore, discuss and engage with the tough topics (and some fun ones) that will help them become the people who bring more kindness and respect into this world. Children are our future and TCT on Tour is one way that we are investing in helping educators and families have the hard conversations that will empower the next generation.

The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati MainStage Performances

They offer performances during the week for school audiences to attend as well as weekend performances for the public!
