20-Minute Daily House Cleanup with Time Timer

Posted by Jenna Ahern on

Setting aside 20 minutes for a quick daily house cleanup will help your maintenance routine feel more manageable and less overwhelming.

Of course, the once-a-month deep cleaning tasks are important and necessary, but by keeping up with a daily house cleanup you’ll make everything much simpler to handle.

Here are our best tips for an easy daily cleaning routine.

Easy Daily Cleaning Routine

Giving everything in your home its own place will help you pick up quickly when you know where things need to go. Think about the areas you use on a daily basis that could benefit from a daily pick-up, like the kitchen, bathroom(s), bedroom(s), and living room, and focus on tackling those areas.

Set your Time Timer for 20 minutes and let’s get to it!

Kitchen: 3 minutes
Clean up as you cook every meal to reduce time cleaning up messes at the end of the day. Then, in the evening:
  • Wash and put away any last dishes and wipe down countertops
  • Sweep, mop, or vacuum the floor as needed
  • Put away any items that have gathered on the countertops or dining table that belong elsewhere
Bathroom: 2 minutes
Use a daily shower spray on your shower, tile, and bathtub to quick-clean after you shower every day. Then, every day:
  • Wipe down the countertops, sink, and mirror
  • Put away any items left out on countertops and hang towels
Bedroom: 2 minutes
  • Make your bed every morning
  • Tidy up any surface areas like your dresser, bedside table, or chairs.
Living room: 3 minutes
Give everything a home so your family can help with putting away toys after use. Then, every day:
  • Tidy up surface areas like your coffee table, sofa table, etc
  • Pick up the sofa by folding any throw blankets and resetting cushions
  • Do a quick vacuum of the rug (and sofa - especially if you have kids or pets!)
The rest: 10 minutes
With your remaining 10 minutes, break up the biggest cleaning tasks to complete just one every day. By the end of the week, you’ll be in good shape and ready to enjoy your weekend, with time for those pesky weekly or monthly deep-cleaning tasks as needed.
Here are a few tasks to manage once a week for easy home care: choose one task to complete each weekday.
  • Vacuum the floors
  • Mop the floors
  • Clean bathroom toilet, shower, sink, and fixtures
  • Clean out the fridge and wipe down kitchen appliances
  • Clean up the clutter and dust

Use the Time Timer PLUS 20 Minute visual timer to keep you on track and make it fun by racing the clock. Happy cleaning!
