Looking for a productivity boost? Time Timer can help!
No matter your lifestyle, we all have things to get done. Whether simple or complex, it seems there’s always a list to conquer in our busy lives. Along with the best intentions, it takes some planning and structure to get it all done.
Keeping track of your time is part of taking control of your plans – and Time Timer’s collection of timekeeping products can help. When taking stock of your work, family, and school routines; consider a two-pronged approach to managing everything on your plate. First, consider the big picture. Then, list your priorities. Remember, a productive, fulfilling life is not all about being crazy-busy and ticking off all the boxes. Remember to consider the importance of your own goals and use the time you have to create the life you truly want.
If you’re looking for something more structured to help you stay on track and boost your productivity, there are lots of options out there. Time Timer products are unique in that they actually help you “visualize” time with its revolving red disk that disappears as time elapses.
In addition to timers, there are many different types of productivity systems available on the market. Whether you prefer a mobile app, a web-based tracking system, or a paper journal-based system, there’s a good fit out there for everyone.
Many people are familiar with a productivity approach called the Pomodoro Technique. It is a time management system designed around the concept of breaking up tasks into uniform segments of time throughout the day in accomplishing what’s at hand. The technique encourages people to work with the time they have—rather than against it.
Using the Pomodoro Technique, you break your workday (or schoolwork or household tasks) into 25-minute chunks separated by five-or-ten minute breaks. After four-or-five completed Pomodoro segments, you take a longer (30-minute) break before moving forward again.
The Pomodoro Technique originally came about in the late 1980s as the brainchild of then university student Francesco Cirillo, who had struggled to focus on his studies and complete assignments. Why “Pomodoro”? The Italian word for tomato, it seemed fitting as Cirillo used a tomato kitchen timer to measure his productivity segments!
At Time Timer, we have a few of our own suggestions for how our products can support your own time management and productivity goals! Here are a few ideas:
Another way of making a task more manageable, Time Blasts are Time Timer’s own method for tracking time in segments. We spotlighted this technique in a previous blog post that highlighted the importance of time management for kids and adults with ADHD.
Time Blasts differ from the Pomodoro Technique in a couple of key ways. First, we recommend a little more flexibility on the overall amount of focused work time by choosing a 10, 15, or 20-minute blast length before you begin your focused work period. This gives you the ability to match a blast to you or your child’s needs and abilities. A 10-minute stretch might be perfect for a third-grader, and an adult might jump right in with a 20-minute Time Blast.
Secondly, we think choosing an ADHD time management tool can help you find success with this method. We recommend working with our Time Timer PLUS® 20 Minute as the best match for this technique. It features a blue disk on this compact timer that disappears along with the minutes, so you can see time. This visual cue serves as a powerful reminder of time passing that can help you focus and stay on task. It’s a great ADHD timer for all ages.
